Derby Day At Vaudeville

By May 30, 2013Events

Derby Day at Vaudeville was a huge success! Thanks to everyone that showed up dressed in their finest and adorned with outstanding Kentucky Derby style hats. The weather was perfect and the featured mint juleps were a refreshing afternoon treat. Feedback was that Vaudeville’s mint juleps are tastier than the mint juleps at the actual Derby. Garrison Brother’s Bourbon Distillery provided a gift basket for our door prize we were awarding to the best Derby hat. Music was provided by local Fredericksburg swing band, The Raggedy Cats, which created a fun and high energy ambiance. Chef Jordan Muraglia created an outstanding menu that was true to the tradition of Southern Hospitality. Featured items were crawfish étouffée, buttermilk fried chicken, collard greens and ricotta stuffed tomatoes. This event at Vaudeville will for sure be a tradition for years to come!

Fun Fact! The final result of the 139th Kentucky Derby was that the winning horse was Orb and his jockey Joel Rosario. At the actual Derby Orb paid $12.80 to win, $7.40 to place and $5.80 to show. The total purse for the 2013 Derby was $2,199,800 with $1,439,800 going to the winner.
